Which Wacom tablet would be best for photo editing.

I am intrigued by the Wacom tablets, use a high resolution mouse (game mouse) for editing in PS, looked into it but there are a lot of different tablets, wanted to investigate which Wacom unit fits best and is used by fellow hogs.....budget wise looking for the most ideal tablet, not the cheapest, no scene to but cheap and never be happy with it!

Usually the best one is medium sized.

As for features look for:
Resolution
Pen pressure
Pen interchangeability.
Buttons customization (pen and tablet)
Wireless is a great option (an add-on)

Wacom is 'the' brand but there are others so look for those too.

Personally I use a Wacom Intuous, medium sized. I regret not to have selected the wireless from the get go.

I use a large Wacom Intuous for 3 monitors setup, Medium for my laptop and take a small with me when I travel. Not crazy about the small. If I had a choice of only one, it would be medium.

I recently bought the cintiq 13HD and I really like it. It's a big difference to be editing the picture itself right on the tablet. I had the medium one and could not get used to it. It was almost too big!! Others have said the same about the medium sized tablet. To me - the advantage to the tablet is assigning the express keys on it for use with different programs. I'm in the process of figuring out how to best program the keys for myself. it really does speed up the workflow. I have my medium tablet for sale if your interested - $300.It's like new. You would just have to download the drivers from the Wacom site as they were updated since I had my tablet. It can be used thru a USB cable or wirelessly.

I Googled "use touch tablet as a graphics tablet for photos"

Seems the new way is not the ol' pad coordinated with screen, rather the touch screen has the photo you are editing... seems much better. Bet any touch screen tablet can be software adapted to edit with the supplied pen.

Googled "software to use touch tablet as a graphics tablet for photos"... "ask and ye shall recieve"**... oops, OK "receive" there was a "c" ....

Yep... here is one ...

** Wow!! Google was predicted in the bible Mathew 7:7
King James Bible ..."Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened" ...
Seek and yea shall find, refers to Google. Knock to open refers to double clicking the left mouse clicker

must admit it sounds pretty good but I will the say the one huge advantage the Wacom has is the express keys. You assign a certain shortcut to each express key for each individual program. For example - one key could mean redo - another to crop, another for an editing brush etc, etc. The medium tablet has 8 keys and then there's a ring in the center that you can use as additional shortcut keys. I doubt you would be able to do all that on an Ipad. Therefore you would have to use the keyboard or your laptop along with the Ipad.

I tend to agree that the Medium size works best. However, I also have the smallest Wacom tablet that I take with me on the road, and I am tempted to use if full time.

If you have a friend with either, see if you can give it a 'test drive'. Either way you won't be sorry for making the investment.

I use the Wacom Bamboo, gave 80.00 for it and got Photo Shop elements. That came with it. Got it on EBay, and I love it.

The new, smaller Cintiq models are interesting. I have a friend who is relatively high up the chain at Wacom.
