Hi Erv. The cowbird is an interesting bird. They don't build a nest of their own, rather they will find another birds nest, remove an egg, and lay their own egg in its place, hoping the host will adopt it. I haven't seen any yet this year, but should show up in the next month. Hope yours return soon.

Thank you for that info Donnie. He is still around. But the weather has been so bad I haven't been out. Now I will have to watch where they are going. But I have a lot of birds building nest in my trees, so it will be hard to tell.:)

I have only seen one here so far. I hope the little woman shows up too.:) Do they both look the same?

I'm not good at describing birds. The ones I've seen were a lighter brown color. I will post a pic on here if you don't mind.

Thank you Donnie. Would you mind if I put your shot in my bird guide I am making? It is just for me to look at.

I would be honored. One more bit of info on the cowbird. The reason they don't build their own nest goes back to the time when they made their living from buffalo. Since the herds were always on the move, they didn't have time to build their own nest.

Hi RE. First one for me too. It was really windy out and I think that is why he looks so goofy.:) But he took off before I could get better shots.:)
