An early morning "sun shower" sent this snowy egret looking for cover under a wing. The shower yielded only a few drops of water (see droplets in the pond) but this Snowy stayed dry--and pretty.
Thanks for looking.

Handy to have your own umbrella! good shot.

That's terrific; two great shots in 10 minutes. BTW, why don't you like the in-flight shot because I like it a lot?
I'm glad you like the flight shot but for me it has three things I'm unhappy with. Not that it is a BAD shot, just not as good as I would like. I don't like the bent weed in the right foreground, I find it distracting and too bright. I could clone it out but since the shot has other issues---I did not bother. Of a more serious nature, the bird's face is in shadow and I feel his feet and legs are a bit lost in the swamp weeds and clutter on the far left.
Hope this helps explain my thought process--I'm just picky. Thanks for asking, and for looking.

show quote)
I'm a recent DSLR user so I appreciate hearing what experienced photographers have to say. The weed in the foreground I understand. What I like about the bird is the patch of sun on the top of the head and the sun on the beautiful wings. The fact that the neck and most of the head along with the legs are in the shadow causes me to direct my attention to the wings which to me is the focus of the photo, as I view it. And the sun on the very top of the head attaches the two wings. Just my opinion; I love the photo even with the weed.
As always a superb shot Larry.
