I was out experimenting with my new Signa 70-200 lens this morning and came across this busy little "pollen covered" bee. He seemed to be diving into his meal..... I think I am liking this lens..... alot

you cant ask for much more than being able to see individual pollen granules on a bees "hair" and have them both be razor sharp. Very nice maiden voyage.

I see a lot to like about it; sharp, clear focus, nice depth of field. I like how you've composed both of these. The first one really shows off the polen grains on its back and helps you appreciate the detail of the wings, and with the bee on the edge of the flower, it is easy to guess where it would go next. I did find that my eye wanted to focus on the brighter areas behind the bee, and in my opinion, darkening then up would make them less distracting and make it easier to appreciate the bee.

On the second one, I really like the angle of the bee, and think the catch-light in the eye is perfect. I think the out of focus flower heads in the background add to the image and give a sense of the bee's environment. Well done.

Thank you all. I've always had a pretty good "eye" for composition, its just learning what all my camera and lenses can do and to stay out of auto if I can. I'm taking baby steps on that. I find the information and suggestions given on the forum are valuable to go along with my manuals, tutorials and books. The encouragement means the most..

I agree with you Yooper the really light flower stems in the background of the first shot, although blurred are a little distracting. I'll work on that one.
