Have any of you ordered from Roberts Camera lately? I've bought from them before, and I thought I'd buy again today. I buy everything online, so I know what I'm doing. After at least six attempts (Yes, I am persistent), I gave up. I couldn't avoid PayPal, I kept getting blank screens, the quantity of the order kept increasing, etc.
I'll take a break and order from someone else later - someone else who doesn't charge sales tax for NY.

I avoid paypal. If that's the only way someone wants me to pay, I'll do business with someone else.

What are you trying to buy?

I like to avoid it, too, and I thought I did. The final page said to check my "PayPal Order."

I don't know if I should say.
Maybe I should wait till I actually place an order - later. :D

May I ask why some of you avoid paypal ?

I, and a number of friends of mine, think they are a thieving bunch of bastards. They support thieves who will take a payment and never deliver, instead of following up on both sides of the exchange.

I've never had a problem buying or selling on ebay, but there was a credit setup on ebay called BillMeLater, which charged about 24% interest. They offered six months interest free, provided you paid off the item. BillMeLater is now called PayPal Credit, which is very confusing, since there are really two PayPal functions. I don't want to get hooked up with anything that charges 24% interest.

Well, you were ordering from Roberts CAMERA, so I'm assuming it's not some sort of vibrator, blow up doll, or other sex toy.
I'm guessing it's some part on your that you broke and are too embarasse to admit.

Haven't you read that camera stores are kind of hurting as a result of the digital age and lots of people using their cell phones? Some of the stores are branching out into non-photography related products to help make ends meet. 8-)
I'm not trying to accuse Jerry of any thing untoward, understand.

I think that you're right but only when a transaction occurs through eBay.
Other than that they charge the same interest rates.
Problem I have with PP is their statements. I can never figure out when they say 'Balance' if it's money the owe me for eBay sales or what I owe on my account.

I wouldn't think that you were accusing Jerry of anything.
I made that comment, tongue in cheek.
As far as camera shops hurting & going cell phone, you're right.
There was a great little camera shop here in Long Beach, NY; Tilben Camera. I went in last year to get something and it was all cell phones.
Victory! When software fails, rely on people. I spoke to Nick at Roberts Camera, and he took care of my order. I'll be receiving a Nikon D750 body on Tuesday. Along with the body comes an SDXC 64GB card and a Nikon battery, all for the price of the body.
