:lol: The moon was low, and I had to shoot through (between) some grossly over grown (groan) Cyprus trees. :?

That's because my first settings sucked... :oops:
So I tried yours... :twisted:
But my bottom dweller D3300 only has ISO 200 or 400. No tweener.
But we were both out playing with the big Tamron's.

I was trying to gather some shots for stacking. That sucked too.
It's plain, I must upgrade. :roll: :lol: ;)

Actually it isn't a bad shot as far as focus and exposure are concerned. The tree is kind of in the way, but that's a minor problem. Next time, simply shoot higher up, or find a tree that is farther away so it will also be in focus. Then simply crop the image. No need for stacking.

I used Craig's settings and ran out in the backyard to get a shot. Just to see what I could see...
Ah-Ha! I see.... The error of my ways was too high of an ISO.
I'm still in my self appointed rank amiture class.

Last night I was earlier. Tripod mounted, same settings. Brighter, straining to get it, overhead.
Then a little dimming in View NX 2. (Still too high of an ISO for the shot. But I now realize what I need to do.)
The blind mouse is finding some cheese... :lol:

My moto is lower ISO is better. Also f/8 is suppose to be the ideal f/stop for our Lens according to DxOMark.

Don't forget to shoot the moon in the daylight.
It has its own challenges but it might be in a better position for you to practice.

This unprocessed one looks like it could have used about 2 clicks faster shutter speed. I don't know what you shot, but try bracketing your shutter speed. When the exposure is a bit less the sharpness will improve as well. One reason I shoot the moon one or two speeds faster.
Your mileage may vary.

Nice job Sonny, it works great for all the craters along the shadow line.
You could take it into Lightroom or Photoshop and do an 'Auto Tune' and see what happens.

It was almost comical, Craig...
I had taken several shots, then came in and looked on the computer, then tried a filter, and back and forth. Just playing.
But went back out and everything seemed to be in the way.
So I finally found an opening above one of our palm trees and took my chances. :lol:
