I'll be going out to Arizona next month and plan to spend at least a couple days in and around Sedona. I would welcome any recommendations for photo ops. Thanks in advance.

Be sure to hike into Cathedral Rock. If the water is still up you can get nice reflections in the creek. Don't miss Coffee Pot Rock. It's a short hike.

I'd start out at Rollie's Cameras, a wonderful shop with knowledgeable people. They can guide you to the choice spots.

Drive 89A to Prescott. Turn around and drive back. Caution, you may want to repeat these instructions more than once.

Since you will not be driving your own 4x4 vehicle, I strongly recommend that you consider taking a "Pink Jeep" tour over Broken Arrow Trail: http://www.pinkjeeptourssedona.com/broken-arrow-tour You will not be disappointed.
I drove this route in my 4x4 Dodge Dakota.

West of town....check with your concierge or chamber of commerce....there is a place where you can get a rock and roll jeep ride! These guys will drive you through the bush like you've never been! There is also a place where you can rent horses and a knowledgeable guide will take you around the area. On this tour we saw a ghost town and where Elvis made a movie called " Stay Away Joe " back in about 1957. You have to see the river with all the stacked rocks by the new age people. There's a restaurant....can't remember the name....where you can sample buffalo meat, rattlesnake and a few other delights on the same plate. Gift shops galore and of course plenty of photo ops that will make dizzy! There is a place right on the west edge of town when you walk through this residential area, you will see a canyon and come to the edge of a 600 foot drop! Well, it is really steep straight down ! If you dare there is a narrow path on an out crop that you can get fantastic photos! Have fun! You may even get that feeling you don't want to leave!

Oak Creek Canyon and Hidden Canyon. If you're into hiking do the Airport Trail Loop and don't look down.

You can also walk Oak Creek, or north of Sedona, West Fork of Oak Creek, also the Red Rock State Park is interesting and provides views of Cathedral Rock and other natural formations in the area. You might consider a hot air balloon ride to capture some unique images as well.

The Pink Jeep Tour has lots of photo opportunities.
I took it 30 years ago.

There is a State Park called Slide Rock State Park, see picture. There may be people either dipping their feet or swimming in water but the Red rock and stream should provide plenty of photo opportunities. FYI, I just returned from a trip to Arizona 2 weeks ago during the winter. It's depended on where you fly in but if schedule permits, besides the South Rim of the Grand Canyon & Sedona, you should also consider Page (Upper & Lower Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe bend, Glenn Canyon Dam), &Monument Valley.

Rollies is a very good suggestion for camera stuff and advice. There just a few weeks ago and they recommended Red Rock Jeep tours because they had a best for photography tour that started at 3 PM. Tourism down in Jan/Feb so we were the only ones on board. Nothing wrong with Pink Jeep per se but they always looked crowded. Follow Rollies advice. Prescott a good trip but you should go by way of Jerome, an old mining town with plenty of charm of its own. South rim of Grand Canyon about 2.5 hours away.

Don't miss Snoopy Rock. Take it from the coffee shop terrace at the lower end of upper town.
