Thanks, Jim and glad you liked. I'm sure you are familiar with the old saying " Even a blind hog will find an acorn in the woods every once in a while."

Nice set Corky!!
I never saw or heard of a black skimmer, and they are very unique looking birds! I like that gull that's trying to pass himself off as a skimmer in the second shot!! lol...
Planning on going back anytime soon?!
:-D

Angie they are really neat birds. You can see some great shots of them in action on Swamp Gator's web site. I wish we could leave for Florida tonight, but we probably won't make it this spring, and that's the best time to capture the birds in their beautiful feathers,. Thanks, and really appreciate you looking!

No , Angela , Swamp Gator is a UHH member and also has his own website that you can subscribe to received his daily posts at http:/phillanoue.com/ at no cost. Greg and a number of other advanced UHH bird photographers also have some great Skimmer captures I'm sure , but I happened to remember seeing some beautiful ones on Swamp Gators ( Phil Lanoue) Website.

Great shots of a cool bird! I always feel like these guys have no eyes.

Thanks Frodo, trying to show their eyes proves to be very frustrating. You almost have to white out the rest of the bird to even find a hint of their eyes. For a good while I thought that I must have under exposed or something but then seeing other pictures realized it's a common problem. Take care!

Interesting birds, which evidently don't make it this far north (not that I blame them!) Nice shots of them, and thanks for sharing!

Thanks for responding Randy, and may have good news--I broke out my "National Audubon Society Field guide to Birds, Eastern Region" and this is what it says "Breeds along the Atlantic and Gulf coast from Massachusetts and Long Island to Florida and Texas. Winters north to southern California and Virginia. Also in American Tropics."
I think you would enjoy reading the full description on pages 526 & 527 of the guide as it tell about some very interesting habits about as they say "This extraordinary bird"'

Oh good they DO have eyes! I've never seen them when I have seen them on the beach. Thought they used radar. Great shots my friend the eye thing lends a great twist of mystery to their appearance! I love it!
