The weather really "came to play" on this the second day of spring. What a beautiful morning and great walk in the park to enjoy it. the grass is greening up, trees are bursting with new buds, and the critters are out with new vigor. I came across some of them this morning on my walk - particularly exciting was the spotting of a red-tail hawk perched in a tree just a few feet from where my car was parked. Apparently, just a few moments before a snapped the pics below the hawk had tried to make a breakfast sandwich out of a little pup as he was on a walk with a young couple in the park. Scary stuff! Wonder why I kept looking back over my shoulder as I walked to my car?
Nice Shot. They are hungry after a rough winter.
I love taking Hawk pictures but I also know a lot of dog lovers some of whom get almost unbalanced when they hear a comment like you made about the "little pup"-----they just think every hawk is bad or evil. Those of us who take photos know most hawks love mice and voles and rodents etc. They are smart enough to know they can not consume a dog in general. So think about those who get freaked out when you make comments like this Please. Thanks. ( I only say this because I had a very good friend who was so paranoid about Hawks she would not take her dog out-----fear can be really powerful----that's all)

Certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, Diane - so sorry!
I know you did not mean to offend and as a photographer who loves to take hawk pictures I realize that they are not always friendly to small creatures; however, some people do freak and then hate hawks for the very kind of thing you said. That is why I said what I said. I do have a sense of humor myself and I got what you said about watching your back still there are those who could take it the wrong way. By the way that was a great picture. I missed if you said what kind of camera and lens you used.

Not a problem, I understand - thanks. I shot the pic with a Sony Cyber-shot HX400V. Nice camera with a super zoom. Had it for a short while and still getting used to it, but am impressed with its capabilities.
Beautiful shots, beautiful bird.
