Agreed with davidbb, but let's just let the PC'ers keep buying their crap and keep buying more of it while us Mac folks enjoy our long life without spending all of our money....... Enough said on this post, I gave my 2 cents earlier!

Larry, if you're trying to tell me that I can buy a Mac and use it the rest of my life, I ain't buying that. I know too many people who have simply tried to upgrade software on their Mac just to find out they had to buy the next version of the operating system to make it run. Then found out their PC wasn't enough of a machine to run the new operating system. Apple users will always spend more money getting to where they want to be, just to do the same thing. And the only people they can turn to for a resolution is Apple, who will more than happily demand as much of their money as they are willing to part with, because Apple knows they can't go anywhere else.

But, I will defend anyone on their decisions to buy whatever they want to buy, and I would certainly expect them to reciprocate.

I'm trying to figure out whether you're being serious or sarcastic. :?:

I was being both serious and sarcastic. I'm sorry for the sarcastic part that's not very constructive I guess. It just get's to me sometimes, people saying "I have an older computer that can't run modern software so I'm switching companies". And I only have $200 to spend. It's just so misplaced.

I don't know why it bothers me.

Apologies to all for the sarcasm.

I'll try to be more constructive. Any older computer will have trouble running newer software. It doesn't matter what flavor of computer. Hardware evolves, new features are added. Software evolves always following hardware improvements, accommodating those new features and going beyond what the hardware engineers imagined.

Companies try to make newer software accommodate older hardware but at some point, it is just not economical. It's not a particular companies fault, it's the nature of the modern environment. Everybody wants newer faster cheaper stuff. The market reflects that demand.

You can freeze your system in time. No more software updates. No more added software. That will work fine,
just like it did at the freeze point, until something physically breaks. And you can fix that. And continue. I know people who have been doing this for years (going on +25). It's a trade they make. It's cost efficient. But you don't get any new features. Or any new software. And newer devices, like printers for example, can be a problem.

So I'm just saying, if you have a 5 yr old computer and you want to install the latest version of Photo Editing Magnificent version 100.19.21.v3.21, you better plan on upgrading your hardware. And it doesn't really matter which flavor of hardware you use.
