Not exactly my backyard but on trip to West Point Military Academy my support facility we went to the boat landing and this is what we found.

Very nice. I was in the Coast Guard. I joined with 3 other friends. One of them was stationed on an Ice Breaker, one on a Loran Station, one at Cape Hatteras North Carolina where rough seas are inherent, and I was stationed in Ketchikan Alaska, which also has inherently rough seas as well, and assigned to a Search and Rescue team on a 40' boat and later a newer aluminum hulled 41' rescue boat.

I had the honor sail the USCG Eagle back in 99. We sailed form the USCG Academy in New London Ct to Gitmo and through the Panama Cannel form where they flew us back to Ct. I was in the Army at the time and was burying an uncle who was a Rear Admiral at sea.
