I was watching this sparrow as he was hopping in and out of the shade.

The first two was me trying to be a little creative with shadows. The 2nd two were of the same guy with my usual schtick of putting food on the railing.

I like the softness of the first two and the animation of the second two. You're right, if they're like our redpolls, they're anything but peaceful!

As for the secon, I did a few tweaks and a classical crop. Wanna see?

The first shot is pretty sharp but noisy and the eye is in shadow so for me, it doesn't work as well as the last two.

The last 3 aren't very sharp, but the lighting on the last two is more pleasing to me. Also the sparrow color against the green background is more pleasing to me.

Thanks for responding. Yeah, I was playing around but I bet that since I was shooting through a patio door, Things will never turn out as sharp as they could be. At least they can't see me through the patio glass. They would see how ugly I was and they would never come by.
