I've done lots of research and tried 5 or so current bridge cameras... but I'm still looking for a camera with these general specs: very large sensor, great low light specs, monster zoom (>30)... any ideas?

Didn't you like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000?

Have you looked at the Nikon Coolpix P 600?
Monster zoom 2000. Good in lower light.

If you want everything your asking for, you will need
a lot more money than any bridge camera can offer.

For the price, a Fiji is a better deal with 1200 zoom

I think it's over priced really.

The Fuji HS50. For $300 new and a 1200mm reach it's a sweet deal.

Sounds like you want a telescope with a camera attachment. Good luck with that. :-D
