Thank you ERV! It is alot of fun, I can't belive some of the places I've been and what other places I'm going to get to visit. Plus at my age sleeping in a tent, hilking up to 3 or 4 miles. My job is to take pictures of before and after our work on the trails and around camp. Plus all the beautiful mountains and meadows. Love it! Oldhilker

I have done some backi packing in the Emigrant Wilderness area and it's really a breathtaking place to hike. Bring along lots and lots of mosquito repellent because they will eat you alive in June and July there. By the way, Mossquito Meadow is aptly named and the little critters will be around at Emigrant Lake also.

I wanted to stay in the cabins at Kennedy Meadow pack station and go for a pack ride last year but the snow fall that season was so heavy that it didn't melt till August, so I didn't go. Maybe this year.

Flyguy! We set up a base camp in Monache Meadows last Sept. for a week. Were going out every morning and brushing trails (Pacific Crest Trail). We would go south to the Golden Trout wilderness area and hilke about 2 miles to the trail. It's really beautiful through that area. The last day I wokeup and looked outside my tent and there was 6 in. of snow on the ground and it was still coming down. Maybe I'll see you up there some time! I'll attach a picture of the snow. Oldhilker By the way these were taken with my Canon SX20 on auto.
