Nice shot! The wife grows orchids in a small greenhouse and I need to post some images.

This Orchid measures about an 1 1/2 inches long. It's a tiny thing.

[quote=ngc1514]This is one of the wife's orchids. No idea what it is, but, as you can see, it is a tiny thing.
I like the black background on your shot. The background in my photo is the wall the canvases will hang on. I am doing this to give the illusion of the flowers floating away from the wall. This orchid is the fourth in the series. I am shooting a fifth over the weekend if the light is right. These are taken indoors about 2 feet from the wall with no additional lighting other than the light from the window that is to the left. Canon T2i, Canon 50mm f2.5 Macro lens at AV f3.5 I don't know the shutter speed. The camera is about 18 inches away.

The orchid and the wall coloring go very well together in your shot, RixPix, and should make an interesting wall display.
Have you been to the Redland International Orchid show at Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead? The wife and I drove down there last year and it is an incredible selection of plants from around the world. She filled up the back seat of the car with new orchids. Looks like it's going to be May 18-20th this year. We won't be in Florida at that time.

Nice shot. I find orchids very interesting. Got to go to an orchid show in Mo. yesterday, pretty cool.

w/o the penny this shot would make a top notch picture to hang on the wall. Orchids are fascinating and varied plants.
