Special Effects and HitFilm

"Special effects" fascinate me. They are a step beyond normal editing and probably everyone has heard of After Effects. Access to After Effects requires a subscription to the Adobe Creative Cloud and may not work well without Premier Pro. Recently I read about HitFilm which seems far less known. There is a brand new course at Lynda.com for "HitFilm 3 Pro". As is usual, a half dozen of the lessons are free and should be entertaining to any videographer or editor!

That sounds and looks really interesting. The editing software hit film 3 pro seems to be all inclusive, without requiring after effects. I have Adobe CS6 and these types of compositing are possible, but seem to me to be quite complicated to learn and accomplish.I wonder if this software simplifies the process?

I've not gone far with it yet, but Videomaker magazine provided a review in the last issue. It was all positive like most consumer magazines do. The article lead to the HitFilm website where there were a surprising number of video tutorials. It was enough to move taking the course up my priority list.

From the videos, it appears that it is an all inclusive editing program.
