Printing question on a Epson 3880

Love this printer, but have a question. I am playing with panoramas with my Canon 6D and a Sigma 50mm ART. I am really impressed with the level of detail in a landscape of the Badlands of Borrego Springs, however, even with a print on 17X22, the detail of the distant mountains is lost, but its there.

So...., I want to go bigger. If I were to keep the same print perspective, using a width of 16 inches, the resulting photo would be a little over 50 inches in length. This printer does not come with a roll feeder, but I suspect I could buy roll paper and cut accordingly. I have read on other forums of people doing this (but not to this degree), and there are suggestions that you need to de-curl the paper, and I suspect you would need to set up something to support the paper on the feed and discharge end of the printer. As long as you tell the printer what the image size is, I'm guessing it will print accordingly.

Has anyone messed with trying to print large panoramas on this printer, or would you suggest just sending it out.

Here is something you might consider. This is on a small scale to what you want, but may work. I took this photo several years ago. I had seen this done before so wanted to try it out. I was able to enlarge the photo using the 110% process in image size to make it an 12 X 18. I then used the slice tool/process to create (9) 4 x 6 photos, printed them out and mounted them between 2 pieces of glass, and had a frame made for it. If your computer has enough memory, you may be able to do something like this on a grand scale. My little Epson WF 500 worked perfectly.

You are attempting to do something that the 3880 was never designed to do. You can, however, create a custom page size up to 37.5" but it will not be able to print borderles. At these sizes you will may encounter skew issues trying to load the paper.
For good results, I would send it out or find someone with a larger printer.
Good luck!

Thanks for you response. I figured it would be problematic, hence the question. Where is the planet Twylo. Is that where the land of Far, Far Away is?

If you are a fan of the old Dick Van Dyke show from the 1960s, check out the episode from Season 2 (episode 20); on Netflix and probably YouTube. A classic.
