Sad to say, what most of you who answered, really missed the point and that being the following below!
"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that v**ers discover that they can v**e themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always v**es for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

Except he didn't say this. It's all claptrap.
You found a f**e quote that fits with your world view, and that makes you think it's true. It's just internet claptrap!! It's not true just because it feels good to you.
Reality is not that simple. Not understanding reality is the problem.
Try harder.

Can you give us a concise synopsis?
YES, I can: there's a lot of bulls**t in the world, and too many simpletons believe it.

Maybe that reflects on you.
Reading posts on UHH about economic theory, constitutional law, and theories of history proves the futility of vacuous logic.
There are smart people who think long and hard about issues--forty years, maybe a lifetime--and come to some conclusions--171 of them so far.
If you want to learn something, do some speculative thinking, read some summaries in wikipedia, and ruminate. Maybe even read their books. There is a two volume abridgment of Toynbee.
Then your opinion would be informed.
Reading some f**e bullpucky that has been floating around since the 50s, and which at times was used to attack rebublicans, now democrats, gives you the illusion of thought without the effort and without the results.
I keep saying it, and everyone laughs at it, but this is it: Bulls**t is easy; thinking is hard.
Someone is pulling your chain, friend, and you are falling for it.

It really makes no difference if "he" said this or not, the reason for the post in the beginning was to hopefully wake folks up to what is really happening to our country. Okay, you don't believe this. Fine!
I feel sorry for your kids and grandkids, for that is who I am worried about and not you and I. We won't be around here much longer, but God help us if we keep going in the direction we are headed.
