The pair made it back yesterday! Had been expecting them for several weeks. Early yesterday morning went out to feed the little birds and get the paper and saw the Osprey. He stayed on the piling for almost two hours before checking out the old nest across the creek. I was glad to see that, because recently some Geese and an Eagle seemed to be interested in it. I worked outside most of the day and could hear his familiar cries as he hunted over the water. Later in the day Ellen also saw the female, so guess I was hearing both. She said that when she first saw them they were harassing a Herring Gull which had just caught a fish. Picture taken 200+feet and cropped.

Great shot and you need to keep tabs on those two and keep us all updated!!
There is an arboretum (wish it was closer) by me that has quite a few osprey nests, but I don't think they've arrived yet!!

Great shot Swampy. Love these raptors. He looks a little stern and frustrated... I guess the gulls didn't share the fish.

Thanks ,Karin, But I was quite a distance away and was afraid that he would fly if I came very much closer, and I didn't want to miss on his first day back.

Thanks so much Angela! There are quite a few on the Chickahominy, but I wish a few would nest on our side of the Creek. Now, every year we do have Wood Ducks nesting in our Duplex house that I built 20 some years ago. Ellen could tell you some stories about this! Sure hope weather is improving in your area. It's been pretty decent here the last few days. Ttake care!

Thanks Earl, I told Ellen that I thought we would hear from you, because I remembered you saying that they were. I love to hear them as the are hunting fish or the male is displaying, and also there are several Eagles in the same area which keeps things interesting!

Thanks for the compliment, Frodo, but it was a very long shot so had to crop it quite a bit. Every once in a while they put so much pressure on a gull that he will accidently drop it's meal into the water, but you should see what goes on in the summer between them and the Eagles!

I'll bet. We get the Ospreys but no Eagles close.
