Yesterday morning I spent some time taking close-up photos of orchids using my new Sigma EM140DG Ring Flash. I wanted to see what focus range and DOF, I had when using my Nikon D300S with 70-200mm f-2.8 VR lens and a Kenko 36mm extension tube. Actually I could focus from 7 inches up to 41 inches with this 36mm extension tube. The first two photos were not crop at all, and the last one was cropped to 86% of the original size. I used Lightroom 3 to enhance these photos. I would appreciate some feedback on these photos and your thoughts if a Macro lens could capture a better image. Try higher f-stop. Itd gives you a much dramatic look on the subjects.

Do you mean like f-22 or f2.8? I took these at f-22 and that is highest I can go to on this lens.

Thanks for getting back to me. I will try that next time I take photos of the orchids.
