To be consistent, you should yank your cable from the TV, not visit uglyhedgehog ( because of ads) , and not attend any sports games, turn off the radio, AND if the waitress dares ask you if you want a side or offer appetizers or drinks with your meal.. you should get up and storm off too- ( she is upselling!) who cares if its the best restaurant in the world!…

OR you could learn how to operate the damn box!

At least the waitress has the courtesy to ask and she does wait for your response. She does not place the drink on your table and then ask if you want nor does she bring the drink if you do not respond to her question. I do not have a problem with being asked, I have a problem with the assumption that is you don't say "No." you get it.
In other words, why is it an opt in rather than an opt out situation.

BTW I use a different PDF reader, Foxit Reader because I like it better. Just because Adobe invented the PDF format does not mean they have the best reader. canon Invented the Inkjet printer but how many people actually choose a Canon printer?
In any case, I'll be switching to other software in the near future.

I just downloaded Adobe Reader, and on the first install screen there is a very obvious McAfee box to uncheck and when unchecked, the regular adobe reader install begins.

I am a 25 year veteran on computer consulting and maintenance. I work on and build machines, and do the Reader install 2-3 times a month.

That box to control the McAfee software has been on that screen every time I download Reader and has been for a few years.

You missed it.

In fact, downloading software from the internet is very problematic with regard to spyware and unsolicited software. If you don't read every screen thoroughly, you will get something. Adobe is not one of those culprits.

I also teach community ed classes on all these subjects. Downloading requires much more care than just a couple of years ago.

You ain't seen nothing yet!!!!

I acknowledge that I missed it about 10 posts ago.
The point still remains, why do they set it up as an opt out instead of opt in?
I am still miffed about the entire thing although I am now more miffed at myself for missing the check box.
