E-Bay has a one day only on the D4s for $4549.00. Yes, it is an import without the USA warranty. The question is? Does the savings of over $2000.00 ($6599.00/$4549.00) on the D4s offset the reassurance of a USA warranty. Interested in the perspective of potential buyers who could be interested in this product. Also, what percentage of savings would it require for you to become an import buyer without the USA warranty. Thanks for your response.

Assuming that this is a new grey market item, thats a decission that only you can make. I assume you have a lot of good glass to use on the new body. There are third party insurance plans, is one of them available. Is the seller on E-Bay trustable, Is there a return policy ?

If purchasing grey market is the only feasable way for you to acquire your dream camera (or lens), then go for it. Certainly there's a risk that something could go wrong with the camera, but sometimes you have to take risks to get what you want in life. A few years ago I bought my first DSLR as grey market, and I don't regret having done so. With the money I saved, I was able to buy additional lenses.

It seems like the risk is relatively low and the savings very high.

The only difference in the import model opposed to the USA warranty model, appears to be the warranty itself. If that is the case, then it become the value of the warranty, as much as the value of the camera.

Another considerataion is that Nikon won't service Gray Market cameras, top notch independent repair facilities are limited, and Nikon will not supply parts to just any repair facility.
