Vello BG-N10 Battery Grip

Attempted to use on my D610. All functions appear to be normal, EXCEPT BBF. BBF does work on the body, but not on the Grip. Did I miss a setting or do I send it back?

It cost you about $200 less than the OEM grip and you'd send it back because one feature doesn't work as you expect it to. Did the literature say that feature would work? Then you decide if it is defective or just made less expensively. You did pay a lot less, didn't you?

Yes, it cost ~200 bucks less. But why spend 200 bucks more for something you don't like and will gather dust. I rather spend a few bucks more to see if I like it, then if I do, buy the Nikon version and then sell the other one. Thank you for your response (NOT).

You may want to double check the settings in camera, and make sure you assigned AFON to the right button on the grip before giving up on it.

I had a cheap Mieke grip on my D7100 and it would do BBF on the camera body AND on the grip.

IT works on camera, but not on the grip. The settings should be the same. (unless I missed something.)

Yes, thats why I said double check that you set AFON for the grip buttons. My D7100 has a menu selection for the grip buttons. when the grip is detected.

I removed my grip awhile back due to connectivity issues, but BBF was useable on the Mieke, once the proper menu setting was set, and that IS a cheap grip :)

On my D7100, f4 sets the on camera AE-L/AF-L button to AF-ON, f9 sets the AE-L/AF-L button on the grip to AF-ON.

I just confirmed this by putting my grip back on the camera as well. BUT that is a D7100 - not sure about your D610.

Edit:

Looking at the manual for a 610 - page 247 shows the f9 setting for the grip.

Already done did that. My stupidity. Don't know how I missed it the first time. Hence my post.

RTFB closely. Oh well, thank you for showing me how one can overlook the simplest thing. (Stupid is more like it.)

Thanks again.
