New to the forum...my first comment! I've had my 1400 for a little over 2 yrs & am very pleased with what it can do. It does like to gulp ink but the results, on the right paper, are awesome. I like the CD carrier that comes with it to print on printable CD's for those special CD's. You should be able to get the printer at a good price I'd you can find one. I would definitely buy another if I had it to do again.

You can't go wrong with the Epson 1400. It maxs at 13x19. The price is right too. Here's a link

I have a question, how many pictures can you print with this printer? How much does a cartridge costs vs, sending the pictures to the lab? Is it cost effective? Let me know.

Honestly can't say, never did an analysis...more interested in output quality. Which would also relate to print quality selected. These are 6 color printers (standard Y, M, C, Black + light magenta & light cyan). Cartridges run about $25 (Staples).

My daughter has the Artisan837 and really likes it. Plus it is an all-in-one with a fax and does HD photo printing.

Check them out at Epson.com. They have other wide format printers available but they can get expensive.

I just bought the Canon Pixma Pro1. Yes it is $1000 and 12 inks, but it sure prints nice. The last printer i bought was a $400 Epson R800 8 ink and I never really liked it. It ran out of ink so fast it was a joke. I just gave it away last week.

The Canon Pro 1 I think will be slightly cheaper to keep in ink than the Epson R800. Canon ink cartridges are 5 times the size and only cost 2.5 times as much.

It also is very heavy duty. It weight 60 pounds, very solid and has CIS built in. 5 black inks for BW which I will mostly use. It will do CD's.

Check me in 6 months!

Hi there, I used to use an HP Photosmart Premium (bought specially for doing photos not for every day printing) which was ok for A4 paper. It is very sensitive though to what photo paper it uses, I bought Kodak glossy premium pack of paper as it was on offer and print quality was so bad I took the printer back thinking it was defective. Shop ran HP Premium glossy phpoto paper through it and hey presto perfect prints good enough to hang on the wall. Just upgraded though to an A3 printer to do bigger pictures to hang on the wall and after reading every review going got the Canon Pixma iX6500 - WOW!!! what gorgeous prints, superior quality to the HP Photosmart and not expensive either for the non proffessional. If you are on a budget this is one great printer and I have run off a load of A3 prints with no problme at all. Best to buyu the proper quality paper thouogh as it does make a big difference. I use the canon Pro PLatinum glossy A3 sheets which work out at £2BGP per sheet buying a pack of 20 off e-bay.

A very good site for printers and printer supplies, paper and ink and they honor all manufacturer sales and specials.
