I am looking for a Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8 with no fog, mold or dust inside. This is an older lens and heavy.

The Nikkor 35~70 f/2.8 is autofocus only.

I should have remembered that as have both versions... Senior moment I guess. The MF version is an F3.5, has a 72mm filter thread (as opposed to 62mm) & is considerably larger & heavier...

Love them both, although the MF one is a bit sharper. I can utilize either on my DSLR bodies.....

Senior moment? I can relate to that! Sounds like your manual focus version is the AI. I have the AIS, with "macro" focusing. Those, and the f/2.8 autofocus are outstanding. I've read that the latter is supposed to be sharper, but could not see a difference in Kodachromes at 20X, and so kept my AIS. :)

So one should save their money and not buy the 24-70 2.8

If you are experienced on ebay you might try there, I bought mine there and love it. The other option is to buy used from a retailer with a return policy that shows they stand behind what they sell. Check out B&H, KEH, or National Camera Exchange.

I have 2 of them. Wasn't going to part with them but I got a 24-70mm nikon for Christmas.. Used but works good. As do the lenses. Both are in excellent shape.
Want both?
