Nikon USA website announced the D7200 today with delivery to stores in April!

Not a huge upgrade but D7200 gains upgrade to 51 focus points, wireless and NFC connectivity, -3EV Autofocus, 2 stop improvement in native high ISO to 25,600 ( Black and White to ISO 102,000) and a big increase in burst rate buffer depth to 27 raw images and over 100 JPEGs before the burst rate slows down. Cost $1196 body only.

The D7100 has 51 focus points so that is not an upgradeĀ….

If I read the review correctly the D7200 has an AA filter, but the D7100 does not? Like D800 vs. D800E? Not being a Nikon user I was skimming the article out of curiosity. From everything I've heard the D7100 is a great camera. What isn't these days?

A big D7100 problem for action and sports buffs was the very low number of shots before the buffer or image storage tank filled up and slowed down the continuous shots being taken. Especially in RAW format. With the D7200, 27 RAW images can be snapped off at 6 fps before the buffer fills up. Over 100 JPEGs can be taken with the D7200 before the buffer fills up. The D7200 can now be considered an option for sports and action wildlife photographers. The Canon 7D Mark ii was blowing Nikon out of the water with its great burst shot buffer depth.

I believe that you are incorrect about no AA filter on the D7200. The releases say their is no OLPF which means no AA filter, just a different name for it.

DANG IT, DANG IT, DANG IT!
I was not going to succumb. I had made up my mind that the 7200 was not enough upgrade. But now they put in a faster processor, boosted the buffer so I can shoot sports easier, pumped up the ISO, AF to -3EV and built in wi-fi.

I'm feeling some vicious GAS! If they had added a tilt screen, it would be too much to bear!

The 7100 will take about 5 shots a second...same number of focus points and cross focusing points as the d7200 and I shoot it on a slow focusing lens...Tamron 150-600...I don't see the need to upgrade...just MHO

It still is, the 7200 is handcuffed at 6 frames/sec vs 7DII's 10 frames/sec. I guess Nikon is still working on a fast crop to compete with the 7DII.

Anyone who thinks the "two stop improvement in native high ISO" means a big improvement in actual low light ability without noise needs to get vaccinated against corporate marketing hype.

Nah, who needs 10 fps of out of focus shots?
