Looks like an interesting little beast. Will have to wait a bit to see IQ
From DPReview:
Nikon has extended its superzoom range to include the Coolpix P900, offering a 16MP sensor and world's longest zoom lens, which is equivalent to a mind-boggling 24-2000mm. It features built-in Wi-Fi with NFC, 7 fps burst shooting, built-in EVF and a fully articulated 3" 921k-dot LCD. The P900 uses a new Dual Detect optical image stabilization system, claiming up to 5 stops of shake compensation.

It looks huge! (or the woman holding it has really small hands)

Tempting. This would make a good travel camera.

Looks like there is no hot shoe or treads to add a filter...

Doesn't the SX50 use some kind of adapter for filters?

You could use a flash L bracket screwed into the tripod socket and put a flash in that. At least it has a pop up flash. I'll be interested in seeing some thorough reviews.

Yes, there is an extra cost optional filter adaptor available for the Canon SX50. But why not just make it with filter threads built in to start with? Does it really add THAT much more to the cost? Sigh.

And therein lies the mystery. I once bought a camera bag and then returned it because it didn't have enough Velcro inside to move the dividers where I wanted them. When I asked a company rep about it, he said that they designed the bag "to a price point," and too much Velcro would cost too much money.

I'm not familiar with the manufacturing process, but it's one thing to make the lens barrel, and it's another step and another machine to put threads on the end.

I'm sure there will be adapters available. Filter makers want to sell filters.

If 2000mm isn't enough, the P900 ofers 4X more digitally, so you get the equivalent of 8000mm.
