Very interesting, Richard. I used to have a Keuffel & Esser slide rule when I was a kid (remember slide rules, lol). There is a wealth of information about K & E on Google. Your last shot shows super detail, even on double download. :D :D

Rather than a "transit" I believe that is a "level" since it cannot measure vertical angles. I don't know whether it is a "level" vs. "builders level" -- depends whether it can move in a horizontal circle after being locked down (if I understand what I quickly looked up...) At any rate, it appears to be a very well-made one.
