outside temperatures are low so outside cats are inside and mama has decided its time to deliver.
No shortage of midwives.
Task accomplished.

Sounds like feline "Bingo". Have fun and don't forget to empty the litter box now and then.

i'm a nice guy, she wants to have kitties on the sofa with her family around her.
So i toss a pad on it and let her have her way but come TV and sofa time for me and she, kitties and pad get placed on the floor.
Woke up this morning with a weight upon my chest, seems she intends to raise the kitties on the sofa.

Sleeping on the sofa because its near the TV, i've had to share my bed with mama and the 5 kittens for the past 11 days.
I'm always afraid of rolling over on one but this evening mama is carrying them off to her new nest so finally i can rest easy.
I'll miss them though.

went to bed last night with 5 kittens and mother not on sofa.
Now mother and one kitten are back on sofa nursing.
Do mothers ever split the litter or discard any?
Or has she just forgotten where she put the others?

She hasn't forgotten, an hour ago she brought another one back to sofa.
It was cold, stiff, unresponsive to touch, tongue hanging out. Dead for sure.
I was going to trash it but now it is warm active and nursing normally.
It'll be interesting to see if she retrieves the other 4 kitties.
You don't know where she put them?

In the basement, but with a bathroom. two bedrooms, music room, living room, darkroom, wood working shop, laundry room and storage room in the basement she could have hidden them anywhere.
Last light burned out probably 12 years ago so chances of finding them is slim.
Shined a flashlight down the basement steps and the spider webs are floor to ceiling.
I wouldn't go down there if it was one of the kids missing.

Well i didn't have to brave the stygian depths of my basement.
Went to sleep with two kitties, woke up with 5.
just checked a few minutes ago and now there are only two on sofa.
This is one strange mama cat. I get the idea she takes them to the basement when its warm but brings them back upstairs when its cold.
