Hard Lesson-42nd Street Camera

Hopefully this will save others grief. 42nd Street Camera is NOT an authorized Canon dealer (and probably other brands, too). So no Canon rebate and 20% restocking fee makes it not feasible to return anything to them. Hope you can benefit from my stupidity. DON'T BUY FROM THEM.

Hate to say this, but if you had researched 42nd St. Camera here or reseller.com, you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble.

sorry for your misfortune. a simple (insert favorite search engine here) search is always a good idea to research a company before buying from them.

Then don't say it.

It's unfortunate, but we pay for our education sometimes. I hope that your post helps others as they look to purchase gear.

At least with Canon you might be able to have it repaired, if needed, by Canon for a fee.

There are numerous threads here on that store, and none of them advise buying from there.

Just type "42nd street" into the search box and read a few of the posts there.

That's all I was trying to do. Already know I made a stupid mistake-don't need a lot of piling on from people who are so much smarter than I.

Don't worry about it.

It won't be the end of the world even if the camera is gray market. At least Canon, in the past - no guarantee for the future, has been kind enough to fix gray market items for a fee.

Ditto, it's a bait and switch operation. I ordered my Nikon D850 from them because their website said they had it in stock. Then I get a phone call that it's not in stock. After some chinanagins they told me they could get me the International version without warranty. No thanks. That was fine with them. So I thought they were pretty good, so I ordered a lens from them. I get another call and they said "Did you know you ordered the International version without warranty? It says so right on the website." No, it doesn't. I finally, after declining two bait and switch "offers," got them to honor the original order which was $200 below list. I'll see if I get what I bargained for, a brand new US AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR lens. I'll be adding to this post if not.
