Thanks. It's been a frustrating to not see the winter species, very mild and rainy for pretty much this whole side of the NW & they say we are on flood watch due to how much rain there has been. We can know the Gr. Blue Herons have for sure loved it downtown between here and Fife. It's going to be interesting to see if due to how mild it has been if the Goldfinches show up earlier and also if the Pileated's bring their new baby sooner in the Summer than they usually do. It is supposed to get a little colder tonight, enough to where I need to go down and flip the switch on for the utility light on the hummer food.

Don't complain. Here in the NE it's been terrible: record snows, rarely above freezing for the last 2-3 months, etc. Birds of all sorts enjoying our feeder. No Pileated but Red Belly and Downy often at the suet.

New England certainly has been getting the worst of this winter :(
I'm becoming a real trooper when it comes to going out in frigid weather to photograph birds! Only because I've figured out that between the extreme cold and the snow...they are actively pursuing food ;-)

Thank you Craig for taking the time to let me know you liked them! I like to see other peoples settings too...so I always try to remember to do it on my posts.
I have felt sorry when seeing the news and seeing all the snow that a lot of you have gotten and very thankful a good friend that was in the military that was on the East coast was able to retire and is back home. Truly I do wish it was a little colder, not really for the snow but just the temp. so that we would have had our winter birds. This has been the first year ever that I can remember that we did not have them like normal. Some not even seen at all since it was so mild. Temp is to get lower again tonight to where I have to flip the switch for the hummer food. I heard talk from a few that went up to the Skagit River say they could tell there was the difference up there. That is a place to go up with the Audubon Society for birdwatching and you would usually see a lot more Snow Geese but due to it being more mild there were not as many up there I was told. Not just them but the other Trumpeter Swans and other birds too. So hopefully with the colder weather it will help with the Bald Eagles and other species up there for those going up for birding field trips.
