The best that you can produce.
To be serious; any quality printer will use the highest quality files that you send them.
I don't use Lightroom but use Adobe PSE.
The higher the quality files the better.

sorry if I didn't ask that the correct way. Most places require jpeg. What's the best highest quality format to get the best print

Quality printers will accept TIFF files. That is a no loss file type.
I have used Adoramapix for one. Others will have more experience with printers than me.
I accept JPGs, and TIFFs, with my clients knowing that SI/SO, and process accordingly.
I print with an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and I only print from LightRoom. Learn the print features of LR and you will be just fine. A calibrated monitor helps. If your sending to a print shop I suggest you contact them and ask. Scott Kelby has had an awakening toward LR in general and printing in LR specifically.I edit my images in raw and when complete I just open the print module, make my settings and print.

Just as David Pine above says --- this is what I do also --- there is no need to change file formats when printing to your own printer through Lightroom.

As I do too --- Lightroom makes all of the necessary conversions and adjustments for your printer "behind the scenes" according to what your have chosen in the Print Module set up menu's.
I do most of my printing through Lightroom and very rarely print using the Photoshop printer engine.

Maybe I misunderstood; I thought the OP was wanting to send files to a printing service.

If I may ask, I took some nice orchid photos Saturday and have never had a photo printed in 16x20. Do you think Adorama or Walmart would be a better choice or is there another place that's better? I think, unless I misread the sign, that Adorama would be cheaper.
An orchid would probably look very nice on Pearl Metallic paper. You won't find that at WM, Adorama, maybe?
