It was a clear sky in New Jersey on Friday for that rare event that will not happen again til 2017. The moon, Venus and Mars got very close on Friday 2/20/15 right after sunset. I didn't have my tripod with me so all the pictures are hand held most of them shot at 300mm.
Early in the evening only Moon and Venus are visible
Mars finally start to show, right above Venus
I just thought it was a cool picture Moon and Venus blurry in the background
As the sky darken Moon Venus and Mars brighten..
Finally the close up, after that it was too cold to stay any longer outside haha
Nice series showing how each element comes into its own.
I was hoping to shoot this but clouds had other ideas.
Well done.

Very nice series love the way it all comes together.
The last shot , as you planed, of course is the ultimate winner.
