I came across this cross on the edge of a frozen lake. I don't have any idea who this was, but what a lovely place to spend eternity
the original one I posted was HUGE

Around Albany, NY, we sometimes see crosses, not where a person is buried, but where a person was killed, as on the side of a highway. They certainly remind me to drive more carefully, a more effective instruction than any public service ad, as well as being a memorial.

We have had the crosses by the side of the road for a long time here. It is sobering.
Beautiful picture.
In AZ we have crosses along the roads where people have lost their lives. Some of the Indians (I've been told) believe that the spirit of the person stays in or near the spot where they died. Some of the crosses are decorated with flowers.
