Hudson River freezes over

I have been asked many times does the Hudson river freeze over? I have seen tugboats get ice in but I've never seen General cargo ship iced in. Two days ago when I checked marine traffic I saw 4 tugboats and a cargo ship anchored in a strange place , West Point Landing. This is is a very narrow part of the Hudson river and that's where they were I read the paper the next day that the US Coast Guard had to send a few ice cutters to break up the ice and it took 16 passes . I don't think the cargo ship was iced in but could not maneuver around the several tugboats. Where I live the Hudson river is about 3 miles wide Down by West Point Landing it's about a half a mile wide that's where the ice packs up

At he Newburgh Landing about 3 miles wide

Wonder what the river looks like at the TZ bridge and further south at the NYC harbor.

I used to commute across the TZ bridge for 10 years, I remember this well. My mother told me they used to drive cars across in the winter before they had bridges. Need a Humvee to get across that!! tfs it!
