Intimate affair

I had previously posted some shots of a pair of Canada Geese involved in some intimate moments in the general photography section, but having gone thru the images, wanted to post this in this section. Pretty good crop here, but seems to hold up with the full frame sensor of the 6D. Hope you enjoy.

That is really cool! What lens did you use?

Original Canon 100-400 @400mm. The first version of this lens is pretty good, I think. Many in this forum can't say enough about the new one.

For a good reason. It is really nice and much better than the older one! It took canon 15-16 years to finally come out with a mark II.
I've had the chance to use the older one many times and I really do not like it. It is too hard to zoom in and out, so it is not really practical for wildlife (one of my best fields). And it gets even worse if you hook up the Canon 2X extender. At 400 (800) it only stops down to f/11 and with most cameras you can only focus in live view mode. Of corse if you know me I shoot hand held if it kills me (99% of the time) and believe it or not I got some nice shots HH @800mm.

I noticed you "want" the 400 DO. I went way over the top and have the new DO II one on order from B&H. Canon won't even tell them when they will ship the purchase order. So here I sit, waiting.

I don't "want" the 400 DO, that one is under the ones I have experience using. I shoot hand held 99% of the time and the IS is not bad. Here is an example.
