I have a D750 and I am considering a longer lens. 150-600mm

Has anyone experienced any problems with either lens on a D750? Are they both slow on auto focus? What seems to be there sweet spot on focal length. Are they both sharp or acceptable at the 600 end?

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated about these two lenses.

Bob

The Tammy sweet spot is 500mm - most likely the same for the Sigma. The comprehensive fine tuning ability of the USB dock of the Sigma gives it an advantage.

Okay, Interesting point. USB so the Sigma comes with software and a usb docking station to fine tune the lens. I have heard about this but have not experienced the fine tuning exercise.

Self explanatory?

It does not come with it - it is a $50 ( I think) optional extra - google it to get more info. - also, go here -

and scroll down to where they show some of the options available.

Unfortunately the Sigma 150-600mm contemporary for the Sony a-mount has been discontinued before it ever became available. Your only choice at this time is the Tamron. The Sigma Contemporary (just as the Sport version) will only be available for Canon, Nikon, and Sigma.

Hopefully, Sigma will eventually realize the error of their ways ! - along with the discontinuing of the 100-300 f4 and 50-150 2.8 !

The Tamron comes with software as well. And Regis Tolbert a regular poster on this site, is getting stellar results with his Tammy at 600mm. His Bald Eagle shots are amazing. He's even posted a couple of great BIF shots. Now, I would add that he's shooting it on a Canon 6D FF camera and that seems to be a perfect match. His lens was one of the early one's too. That said, I believe you'll get great results with either the Tammy or the new Sigma. The Sigma Sport reviews better than the Tammy but I would hope so for twice the price and add another 1-1/2lb. or so.

Sigma USB dock was $60 at Amazon when I got it. It rocks. You can fine tune 4 separate zoom ranges with it.

As long as you don't mind the extra wait/weight I'd go with the Sigma personally. I know Nikon doesn't seem to have the same issues, but Canon users see to be strained with certain models with the Tamron.

I recently got the Tamron 150-600. I'm using a D750 with it.
It works great. Focuses quickly and is light for that size lens. Most of all it is Sharp. I use it with a monopod with VC on.
I read that its sharpest at F8.
See the attached photos.

Also, Ira have you found a battery grip for your D750 body. MB-D16, they seem to be on hold being released to the US?
