I know the D7000 has some steel, or Titanium in the body but I haven't seen anyhere how durable that makes the camera. I don't know if there is a light drizzle out if I can safely take pictures outside without a rain cover on the camera. If anyone has any first hand experience or knowledge I'd like to hear it.
I've been shooting with the D7000 for only a few months and am an inexperienced photographer. I can tell you that I've taken it out on days when it was misting or just beginning to rain. I hold it under my coat until I get to what I want to photograph and as soon as I'm done I put it back under cover. I don't use a rain jacket for the camera and so far I haven't had any problems. Good luck!

How about these conditions? Performed flawlessly! I have also used it with no problems at -20 degrees outside, worked great then too. No issues at all, but we BOTH are looking forward to Spring!
One more note, you need to use a weather-sealed lens in these conditions too!
MT, love that snow. Chicago has had almost none this year. I am originally from Minnesota. I like snow!
All we have is grey everything, except the ghetto murals outside my door.

Me too. I'm really missing the snow. Glad I bought a new snow-blower for this year. Used it once. Never even used my 4WD. This winter sucked here.
Do you think the city will put all the money they saved on snow removal to good use???? Right!!! They will sandblast the ghetto murals so they have a fresh surface to paint on.
It sux being a taxpayer(giver) here. There are so many "takers." Can't wait 2 years to retire and get out of "Crook county."
Sorry, kinda went off on a tangent here.
I think pretty good. Not up to the D3/4 standard, but it is not meant (or priced) to be. MT is correct about the lens - that has to be weather-sealed as well.
'K' Don. I am retired and staying. I am very embedded in my community, plus I work and live in the same building. If I went anywhere it could be Montana for summer and New Mexico for winter. In my dreams...

I bought my d 7000 last year I use it in the mist and fog but I also keep a rain cover handy for it no sense pushing my luck.
Lived in Billings, Kalispell and Chicago...now live in TN...3 inches of snow last year and they closed the schools for 2 days...
Mt Shooter...can I print one of your snow pics and put it in my wallet...so the next time we get a dusting of snow on the windsheild...I can take it out and say...this is not snow...THIS IS SNOW!!!

I'm glad someone else likes snow too.

I agree...rain covers are inexpensive...and...why take a chance.

Feel free.
And for the record, I have a total of 4 OpTech brand rain sleeves. One in each camera case and one in my vest. They do get used too!
