Because Buffet has a president in his pocket and he doesn't want the pipeline.

The oil is going to move south whether through a pipeline or by train. The only difference is that a tanker contains about 33,000 gallons which is a very substantial amount of oil.
A pipeline on the other hand the Keystone will pump 830,000 gallons a day so the potential for a major disaster is much much greater.
Aside from that, the one thing I find totally objectionable is the process. Eminent Domain should not be a way for a foreign company to take over privately held land in the United States.
If we cannot protect our citizens against Canada then certainly there is no hope left.
Why not just give Alaska back to Russia? Which by the way I might support if they took Palin with it.

So you think if there is a problem, that the entire length is going to empty? ROFL… duh… YOur figure is a lie… not how it works- but man its sounds so impressive.

Do an intelligent thing and look up how many miles of pipeline currently t***sfer oil and other pollutants all across America, every day, in every state.

(Here I did it for you: America depends on a network of more than 185,000 miles of liquid petroleum pipelines, nearly 320,000 miles of gas t***smission pipelines, and more than 2 million miles of gas distribution pipelines to safely and efficiently move energy and raw materials to fuel our nation's economic engine.)

Now tell me about the last disaster of a pipeline that has been built in the last 30 years… the last spill into the Yellowstone river was bad… go ahead and look up how many gallons it was… the first estimates was 40,000 gallons, however, the final amount was figured to be about 420 to 630 gallons. It does not take much - no doubt and no argument. No spill is good. Republicans enjoy spills and pollution.. I know I love them and the taste of oil in my water- did you know which president is responsible for the clean water act? the one that sees Striped bass returning into the upper reaches of the Hudson and many other environmental gains since it was adopted… hint it was a Republican, anther hint, it was the most vilified president in history, though he didn't do anything worse than our current liar-in-chief- difference is, he took ownership of it in respect of the office. Looking back, a major mistake.

http://flatheadbeacon.com/2011/07/18/updated-new-oil-spill-near-cut-bank-went-unreported-for-a-month/

Now keep in mind every train tanker holds 30- 40,000 gallons of oil. In a wreck… I guess you had better hope only one ruptures. that would be lucky- and in a liberal mind, great odds!

Pipeline is way safer, not sure why you liberals prefer the much more dangerous t***sportation modes- have stock in railroads? Nor do I understand why Palin- a non-issue, terrifies you all so much!

You do know that oil is already flowing from Canada to refineries and storage facilities in the Midwest and Texas through the Keystone Pipeline don't you? The XL portion is a shortcut that will also facilitate t***sporting AMERICAN oil from Montana and the Dakotas. You know, that highly volatile Bakken crude that's furiously burning right now in WV?
And pray tell, why would protecting our citizens against Canada be ANY different than protecting them against Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, etc?

Oh yeah- just heard on the news about that train wreck I mentioned… 14 tankers erupted, with at least one going into a river…. thats 420,00 - 560,000 gallons depending on the size of the tankers, for you on the left coast, too bad it wasn't all in a pipeline nice and safe like evil Republicans would prefer.
