I use an old HP 7960 inkjet printer for printing non-archived photos (use Canon Pixma 9000 Mk. II for important prints). It seems that HP has discontinued production of the 59 black/gray photo cartridge. All I can now get are either outdated cartridges or 3rd party refills. Any suggestions from my UHH friends -- beyond ditching the printer?

Check E-bay. I have bought Epson carts that are over a year past expiration date with no problems.

Before you buy remanufactured ink cartridges make sure the company is 9660 certified. That means the ink and cartridges
are up to standard.

Check with Cartridge World if you have 1 in your area. I've been using their refilled cartridges in my Deskjet 2100 & my wife's Photosmart B210 for several years with only 1 minor problem. When the printer is started, it reports that there is a non-HP cartridge installed. I push the continue button and all is well.

Do you have a " Cartridge World" near you? If so they may be able to refill for you. I have had both Canon and HP refilled by them with nil defects.

Something to give some thought to.

I checked Cartridge World online and it seems they don't carry the HP 59. Let me know if YOU can find it!

That is it. There are lots of places that have refilled/reconstructed HP59 cartridges.
