Hello fellow photographers, I am wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for an affordable photo backpack. I still shoot mainly film, using a Nikon N90 and Nikon and Sigma lenses. I also carry a flash unit and a few accessories. I am hoping to spend less than $200, as this is only one of my many hobbies. Thanks in advance.

Tamrak, lo-pro think tank etc; all great but you should find someplace where you can handle them and see which best fits your needs

Master, welcome to the Hog!
I've been using a Canon eg200 deluxe for almost 4 years now. I would highly recommend it. Not as nice as my Low Pro, but I like it way more and it's only a fraction of the cost at only $39.99 anywhere online! Good luck. ;-)

PS, best buy has carried them if you want to physically look at one.
I was also going to suggest this one, I have it and love it. It will not hold ALL my gear though, but I do not take ALL my gear in the field anyway. It sure does hold a lot though. I use this and one smaller pack for the foeld, although my Big Tammy which arrives Tuesday will have me shuffling things again. I do have two bodies and several lenses though, from what you described, seems this would hold all of yours
Its nice and comfy too
the B&H link is nice too, as they give very nice descriptions of their packs, with many different photos, makes it easier to see whats there than I find with Adorama's descriptions, but both are very reliable to buy from.
I found mine on Ebay used for 49 bucks though.

I have a new Lowepro Flipside 200 for sale - $45 + shipping ....
Welcome aboard. I use a Swiss Army backpack that was on sale at Sam's for $25 on a very special night for business members. Even at normal price, probably $50 or less. It has the added advantage of not advertising that I have expensive camera gear in it. Lots of padded compartments, zippered interior pouches good for camera cards, batteries, wireless remote, other small items you don't want to lose and two water bottle pouches on the outside. Also, two adjustable, well padded shoulder straps. You could spend a lot more, I'd rather buy more camera gear. Good luck.
Hardly ever do I refer people to Craigslist. Frankly the horror stories on Craigslist, up to, and including muggings and outright theft put me off for sending people there.
So go forewarned.
However, I frequently purchase near mint camera bags of well known brand names, items that sold for $150 to $200, selling for $50 to $75 on CL. I just bought a Tenba that lists for $140 for $40. Right now on the local CL there are a half dozen such deals.
Interestingly, although I buy/sell film gear on eBay and make good money, eBay is not a good place for great prices on bags.
Part of the reason is that many people buy about 3-5 overpriced new bags before they find one that they actually use. They actually throw them in the closet until they decide to clean house, at phenomenal discounts.
I can't tell you how many popular camera bags I buy on CL that are near new and flip them on eBay, often doubling my money and still below list price by a nice discount.
Capitalism and the used market in Camera bags is excellent.
BUT AGAIN.. go easy on Craigslist.
My rules...
Cash Only
Meet at a well lit Starbucks or other java joint, during busy times of the day, and in better sections of town.
Eye to Eye..
No Shipping EVER!!
Same rules whether buying or selling.
NO EXCEPTIONS--- EVER!!
Lastly... there is no such thing as a perfect bag. Plan on buying 6 to find one you will actually use. So, don't take the retail hit... buy used... most of them have never been out of the house more than a couple of times.

Hi! I second and third earlier suggestions for the Canon Photo Backpack 200EG, see:
http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=canon+eg200&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=3527181939&ref=pd_sl_zp2oweijk_eI have 3 backpacks, 1 larger (also heavier) and more expensive Lowe pro and 2 of these which I use most of the time. When I use the Lowe, the end result is a backpack twice as heavy and several inches deeper than the smaller and lighter Canon. Lowe: bigger to hold more, padded better to protect your equipment. Canon: slightly smaller size, less padding, not as deep but fantastic price, currently $37.95 (I paid $39.95 each a while ago!)
BTW, on the Amazon page, there are several Canon backpacks listed with different photos. They are the same item, the first one is has a tight drawstring and the lighting is different causing the vertical panels to look brighter while the more expensive listing has a loose drawstring and darker green panels. The darker green is correct color. Get the less expensive one. Best wishes all. Ed
I too have the Canon Photo Backpack 200EG, and love it, lots of storage for the small things memory cards, filters etc. The straps are nice and padded for comfort while wearing it. The storage on the inside is adjustable to fit what you need it to. Bought mine at Best Buy.Good Luck.
I won't suggest a specific backpack. if you live near a real photo store then take the "kit" you'll be using and try different ones til you find the right one.
