I finally got my Sigma 150-600 last week. On Friday I took a drive to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to test it out. My initial impression after one outing is mixed. On the plus side the image quality is good. On the negative side , the lens had to hunt for focus to often, even at max aperture.
As for the two lions in the photos, their 14 month old litter mates Ken and Dixie.

Ken. Lord of the flies. I think Ken needed a bath. Everywhere he went, the flies followed.

Don't know if more are coming but the three that are here are looking pretty good.

Thanks mike and yes more have arrived. Hope you like them as well.
I do, it's a very nice set and it's not because there has always been a special place in my heart for the S.D.Z.
We haven't been there in many years, but it has always been a world-class zoo.

Thank you again Mike. The zoo and Safari park are both special. I hope you can make it back to San Diego again sometime soon.
Me too. What are ticket prices like these days?

I'm not sure but I think a day pass runs about $50 per person. I buy an annual pass for $200 that gets me unlimited access to both the zoo and Safari park. Between the two I get in about ten trips a year so the membership is well worth it.
Whe we lived in Cali we did the same thing with Disneyland. If you went more than three times it was well worth the money and we would do craft shows in SoCal just to have an excuse to go to the mouse house.
Btw, what year is that pretty little 'stang?

While I do love the mouse house, I must admit it's been a long time since I've been there.

That's a shot of a 66 Mustang I took a few years ago at the Coronado Speed Fest.

Moons ago we had a '65 but it was kind of useless for toting kids around so we sold it.

Well, it may have been slow/hunting to focus, but it sure nailed it in the shots you posted. Good sharpness, color and contrast, looks like a keeper. Nice shots.

I agree, what was said lens attached to Joe?
Image quality seems to be top notch.
I've been considering the Sigma 150-600 Sport as well as the Tamron 150-600. I think I might rent both to test the waters before I pull the trigger.
Those images are awesome !

Thank you for the compliment Gobuster. Since I was shooting stationary subjects the focus hunting didn't cause me to miss any shots but I can see it being a problem on a moving target.
