All those colored dots are pixels that are "hot" or temporarily frozen on particular colors, primarily red. This is a problem with too long of an exposure, literally causing the digital sensor to overheat: http://photographylife.com/dead-vs-stuck-vs-hot-pixels Once cooled, the pixel returns to normal function.
