Has any one had a camera card with pictures on it that you can see on your camera, and then you go to put them on your computer and it's like the card is not even been put in the computer. Thanks for any help I have never had this happen before. Thank You

Bet you run Windows huh? Sometimes Windows forgets how to detect something is connected to a USB connection, yes a card reader is a USB device even though it is built in.
Do you have a portable card reader that you can try to wake it up with?

What OS are you using?
If Windows.....Give it the three fingered salute (reboot)
If MAC....Mount it manually
Either...connect camera directly to computer
Either....Get a card reader
Either...Pop the card into a friends computer see if it can read it
Either....Don't have any friends pop the card in a reader at CVS, Walmart or Walgreens etc.
Just another thought: Does your camera have internal memory? Is it possible that your pictures are recorded in-camera and not on your card at all?
You don't say what camera you have, so I cannot look it up for you. But an easy way to test, would be to take the card out of the camera, and then check to see if you can still view the pictures on the camera.

I had a card slot in my older Dell start doing that. When I tried a different slot, it worked fine. Nothing lasts forever.

If you are using Windows, on your desktop click the icon "Computer". Make a note of what removable storage drives it shows. Insert your card and if the computer recognizes it a box should show up on your desktop giving you options and it should appear in your removable storage drives. Sometimes Windows doesn't immediately recognize cards. No idea why. Sometimes removing and re-inserting the card, possibly several times, does the trick. Sometimes doing a restart with the card inserted works. I'm sure there are other tricks, but those have always worked for me. If the computer recognizes the card but does not show any files, then that is a different issue. Some cameras, and I think Sony is one, use a different file system then the FAT system normally used. Never researched it, but I have seen mention made of it. Without the proper software installed, your computer would not see the files.

I have found that if I insert a card larger than 8GB directly into my computer card slot that the computer can't read it and doesn't even know it is there. I now have a USB card reader and the computer can see all cards of any size using it. The card reader was fairly inexpensive.

Older computers, just like older card readers, could not read cards larger then a certain size. 8GB, I believe. I assume you have an older computer.
I thank all of you for your advice. I will give it all a try. I do have windows and the computer is 4 years old. Thanks to all

Only 4 yrs old? It should definitely read cards larger then 8MB.
Simplest thing that has always worked when I have had this problem: check to see that the card has been fully inserted into the slot.

This is the correct response. Sometimes Windows forgets that it has a certain USB port and rebooting will solve it.
If you had said you had an SDXC card, then it could have been another problem. But with SDHC, the reboot should do it.
