Wow! Thanks so much. I wonder if your this nice to peoples faces. Well, have a nice day.
Tracy, I quoted your comment and gave my opinion based on what you said. If you want everything to be fun and on your terms, when you feel like doing it you have described a hobby, not a Pro Photographer. Do you think a wedding photographer enjoys every wedding? Either you ask for how to learn and improve, or to complain about how you didn't have a fun time. Work isn't always fun. If you were not prepared or did not execute due diligence before taking this job, it is on you. Put your big girl panties on and quit complaining about how mistreated you were and how work isn' fun for you. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't understand what you are looking for. Either you want to be a Pro and ask questions to learn or you want a photo hobby and this job confirmed that fact for you.

Wow...chill dude. I dont think she was complaining just sharing her experience. Im sure she learned from it. It also takes guts to share experiences good or bad.

Think of what it would have cost you to hire a kitchen and chef for a practice session. Your terrible experience won't seem so bad!

A "terrible experience" is jumping on a bicycle at night not knowing the seat had been removed.

My first paid photography job. I was told I would be taking some interior pictures of a bar/restaurant. Well, I walk in and am told I will be doing pictures of their menu items. The Chef will be prepairing each dish and I'm to take pictures of each item. Let me set the sceen. DARK bar! Food Photography, I've read is the hardest to photograph. I have no practice at food photography. I haven't even tried. I'm not interested it that at all. OMG! I will never do anything like that again.
Ouch!

Always try to go to site and review requirements of shoot BEFORE
shooting date
Good advice. I did know of this place. I've even taken pictures there before of the Band. I was told I would be taking interior pictures, the front of the restaurant and (one) picture of their trademark steak. When I got there they just want every menu item photographed.

Hey... and that goes without saying that you are always allowed and/or should have a clause on your contract that specified that you can walk away. It is a relationship... meaning is a two way road and I don't walk through a road when I don't want to... I am a retired attorney, and trust me in my profession, I had to walked away several times... You could always walk away and or refer the job to someone else. But giving up shouldn't ever be an option... You do what you love because it is fun... but it is more fun if while you are enjoying it, you get paid to do it! Cheers and peace to you all. jro
