Saturn in the southern sky

One of my captures from last summer. This was one of my early efforts with a monochrome webcam and filter wheel. Didn't take long to realize the considerable improvement over my efforts using a DSLR. Looking forward to the next clear night (optimistic) to catch Saturn again.

I used an ASI 120mm webcam, LRGB filter wheel, 4x image amplifier all attached to my 127mm refractor. 3 separate .avi sequences of about 1200 frames each, 1 through each filter, aligned and stacked in Registax6 and recombined in PS. Still learning :-D

I have no idea what any of that means, but I love it! S-

Does it hold up under a heavy crop?

Thanks S. Glad you like the photo. I can crop it a little more but not too much on this image. I'm still learning about webcam photography myself. It's pretty amazing what a modest webcam can do with the right software and a good telescope.

Thanks Craig. Saturn won't be getting high in the sky up here for a while yet. I've learned a little more about web-cam photography since my last attempt so maybe this year I'll get some better results. Hope springs eternal :-D
