What does the D80 lack that you need? Bodies come and go, but good quality lenses can last a couple of generations. Good glass is probably a better investment.

For used equipment, I'd stay with the better known local shops, or online places like KEH, Adorama, B&H or Henry's (if you are in Canada). $900 new for a D7000 sounds like it may be an import/grey market, meaning there is no USA warranty from Nikon.

Don't get me wrong - grey market items are exactly the same as the "regular" items. The are not factory seconds, or refurbished; they just don't some with a factory warranty. Some of the sites will warranty the product (instead of the factory) - you just have to send it to them, instead of the factory authorized shops.

I would look at known respectable businesses to get a good idea of prices, then go from there.

check resellersratings.com for that company never heard of em. price seems too good to be true, and if its too good to be true it usualy is. be very wary, especially on a camera as popular as a d-7000 that was hard to come by untill recently. the neddle is pegged on the "scam o meter"

First class camera came up a few weeks ago and some of us here checked it out. It sure sounds like a scam. A D7000 that usually sells for around $1200. for $675? Sounds mighty "fishy" to me.
You know what they say about "too good to be true!"

Research the company.

Not long ago 7000's were hard to find. Now seeing more of them on Ebay and Craigslist. Looks like many 7000 owners are trying to free up cash in hopes of scoring a new 800. Maybe prices might inch down as a result.

But first, research. I never buy anywhere with less than 95% satisfaction rating, and even then, I check the negative reviews. If there are problems with returns, I stay away.

Cameta Camera- BBB accredited, A+ rating
KEH- BBB accredited, A rating
B and H- BBB accredited, A+

First Class Camera- not accredited, C rating.

BTW, anyone have experience with Adorama? I was surprised at their low, non-accredited rating.

I like Adorama very much and have had great experiences dealing with them. They and B&H kinda rule NYC.

I have no experience with Adorama, but never heard anything bad, and they are recommended by many reputable gear review sites. D+ rating by BBB really took me by surprise.

Me too. I have only had good experiences with them. But, then again dealing in NYC where everyone complains a D+ may be a good rating!

RETRACTION-

ADORAMA IN NY IS INDEED A+, AND BBB ACCREDITED.

My apologies. It was Adorama in NJ (primarily services equipment, not seller) that received low rating. Thanks for the catch, ole sarg! I love it when I'm wrong... I learn more!
