All together it's about $3,800 worth of equipment. The camera & body grip are only one year old and in excellent condition.

Which Sony are you switching to? I'm seriously considering the a7m2.

I'm buying two bodies: the A7II for adventure and general use, and the A7R II (or whatever name it's ultimately given when released) for all landscape work. Sony loaned me the A7R and a few lenses for a month and I was hooked. Image quality and dynamic range are insanely good. No need for me to carry around a huge DSLR and heavy lenses any more when I can get such amazing results using a smaller system.

Thanks for the reply. As a 5dIII user, you are inspiring me. My only concern with the sony is once you're past 70mm, the lenses get big and heavy, so you're giving back much of the size/weight advantage, The 70-200 f4 is about the same size as the comparable Canon. I was thinking maybe the A7m2 up to 70mm, and maybe the Oly E-M1 for 70mm up to 600mm FF equivalent. That way keeping the load and size down. Ain't getting any younger.

You should look at the Sony FE 70-200 f/4 lens. It's designed for the A7 series and is definitely smaller than the similar Canon lens. Image quality was outstanding in my tests. Beyond that, yeah - no advantage. The Sony's are definitely not for wildlife photographers who need mega-reach. At least, not yet. Who knows what they've got up their sleeves?

Is it really smaller than the Canon EF 70-200mm 1:2.8L IS II USM? You do know that Canon has 4 different 70-200mm's right?

Yep, sure do. It's definitely smaller than Canon's f/2.8 version. Maybe about the same size as the f/4 version or slightly smaller.
