Testing Helicon Focus. Stacked and cleaned in Lightroom 5 afterwards. Uncropped and still a bit noisy. Not sure how the color will transfer here.

equipment please Albug, I am hoping to achieve this sort of photo with just dslr 150-500mm, possible tracked/stacked if I can work out the tracking lol

Check out some of Albuqshutterbug's 'List Created' and you'll see shots he took with a camera and lens.
And I have rigged a Celestron drive unit and my camera and lenses to track.
You can also Piggy Back to a telescope.
So good luck, it can be done.

This was shot using a Celestron 11" SCT telescope as my primary lens.
This was shot prime meaning camera directly mounted without additional optics in the focal path. Focal length would be about 2800mm and fixed f/10.

loved your photo so much I couldn't help seeing what I could do in CS6 with it, hope you don't mid?
Hopefully I will get my own image like this one night
