I supervise bus mechanics for the regional transit agency. I open the shop Sunday afternoon for the start of our week. We often suspected that some unknown person - or persons had been coming in and working on the engines over the weekend. It wasn't a bad thing as it only assisted us but it was puzzling to say the least as security had placed cameras on the property and assured us that no one was entering the shop in our absence. This evening I opened the shop a little earlier than usual and immediately noticed a faint banging - scratching noise. I pulled my camera out and crept around the end of one bus only to record the following scene. The figure in the photos disappeared in a puff of smoke as soon as he noticed me. After speaking to a few of the 'old timers' I have determined that these little critters are known as 'Bus Gremlins'. Unlike their cousins, they are actually very helpful. They feel compelled to repair any mechanical device associated with a bus. I was cautioned not to report this to my superiors as I would probably be placed on leave and referred to our mental health specialists
It would appear that the little devil know how to hone a cylinder wall too. Awesome!
